FAQ’s

1. What exactly do you guys do?
Good question. Ok, If you could pack up all of Saturday Night Live (SNL), make it clean, Christian and consistently funny and bring it to your event for a live show, then you would have Offhand Remedy in a nutshell. We are a two man comedy team that writes our own 5-7 minute sketches and we mix in some hilarioous improv along the way. I guess you could say we are a cross between “Who’s Line is it Anyway?” and “SNL”.

2. How long is an Offhand Remedy show?
A typical show is anywhere from 45-60 minutes long depending on the needs of the venue. We can perform longer or shorter as needed as well.

3. Can you guys split up your show?
Yes we can. To be honest we usually like to do our full show without interruption because of the momentum and relationship that builds between us and the audience. Each of our skits and improvs play off one another and we find that splitting up our show can sometimes interrupt that flow, but yes, we can split up our show.

4. How much does a show cost?
This always varies. I know it would be easier to for us to just say 20,000 pesos per minute but that would be crazy! Our show costs are typically determined based on the following:

1. When and where the event will take place.
(Dates, how far we have to travel)
2. The type of event.
(Outreach, youth group, Sunday service, camp, conference, etc.)
3. Event budget.
(We work with what is available. This is why we don’t have a set amount)
4.Special requests for the event.
(mime work, face painting, balloon animals….just kidding)

5. Where is Offhand Remedy based?
We are based out of Seattle, WA and usually fly out of SeaTac International Airport for out of state shows.

6. Do you teach Comedy/Improv Classes?
Yes we can, and yes we have. We teach the basics of how to write skits and improvs as well as the rules of the stage. We make sure all the people involved get to write a skit or improv before the class or workshop is over. It is always a blast!

7. Do you speak?
We do, since we were about 2 years old. We can write too! Ok, serious now. We use comedy as our outreach medium just as a speaker uses speaking as his or her medium. Our message or speaking is done through our skits and improvs. We exist to encourage and reach out through laughter.

8. What do you need to do a show?
We need 2 mics (preferably lapels), at least 8′ of stage, 2 chairs, and last but not least, a audience.

9. Which one of the Aaron’s is older?
Aaron is.

10. How long have you guys been doing this comedy thing?
We have been performing together in comedy since mid 2000, almost 7 years now.

11. Where have you performed?
We have performed in many, many churches and venues from coast to coast and a little in Canada. Throughout the duration of our ministry we have had the opportunity to share the stage with many popular bands such as Switchfoot, Pax217, Supertones, Skillet, John Reuben, Petra just to name a few. We definitely have been blessed!

12. What does the name “Offhand Remedy” Mean?

The name Offhand Remedy is based on the verse Proverbs 17:22a which says, “A cheerful heart makes good medicine,..” (NLT). Basically laughter is good for you, and that is where we get the word “Remedy” in our name. “Offhand” is in reference to the improv’s we do, as they are on the spot, or offhand. There you have it, Offhand Remedy. Laugh, its good for you!

13. Do you guys have other jobs?

Yes we do. Aaron Cook is a real estate agent for Windermere Real Estate and Aaron McBroom is a Web Developer for Efinity Technologies. If God wants us to make the move to full time ministers, we are more than ready!
